Maria Anikina is a continuator of the traditions of outstanding masters of the Russian and European schools of piano. Trained under the student of Maria Grinberg - Anton Mozdikov (school of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory professor K. Igumnov), she is, in the truest sense of the word, the "heir" and continuator of traditions of the great Russian school of pianism. This includes the school of one of the country's outstanding and most famous teachers, Anna Danilovna Artobolevskaya, who made a huge contribution to musical culture and had a great influence on pedagogy and methods of teaching piano playing.
And also, during her studies in Europe with world-renowned pianists of today, such as Menahem Pressler, Paul Badura-Skoda, Dina Joffe, Andrzej Yasinski, Robert Levin, Maria has significantly expanded the limits of her pianistic education.
During twenty years of teaching in Europe and Russia pupils of her class took an active part in the concert life of Switzerland, Russia and Ukraine, and are prize-winners of international competitions. For example, the Swiss Junior Music Competition (Schweizer Jugendmusikwettbewerb), the music competition in Laupersdorf (Musikwettbewerb Laupersdorf), and the music competition at the Stolyarsky School (Odessa, Ukraine). Maria has educated a large number of students who successfully continued their education at the Zurich University of the Arts, the Higher School of Music in Lucerne, as well as at the Musikwettbewerb Gymnasium in Zurich.
The pedagogical Credo for Maria and her students is that music, perhaps more than any other art, helps to make people kinder and ennobles their lives. Its language does not need translation; at the same time, it is capable of conveying the most delicate and deepest feelings, which sometimes cannot be expressed in words. It is not without reason that they say that music begins where words end. To ignite, to "infect" a person with a desire to master the language of music is the most important of the original tasks of the teacher.
